About the State Council
The SEIU California State Council is over 700,000 members strong in California,
and we are proud to be part of the largest and fastest growing union in the United States,
the Service Employees International Union, with over 2.0 million members nationwide.
Our Mission
SEIU California State Council's mission is to improve the lives of working people and their
families and lead the way to a more just and humane society. SEIU fights for jobs with
decent wages, healthcare, pensions, better working conditions, and more opportunities.
SEIU members also work in coalition with the consumers of the services we provide to
enhance economic opportunity and the quality of life for all Californians.
The California State Council strives to build greater unity among all SEIU locals in California
and to mobilize our membership to pursue an action-oriented, issue-driven agenda.
We accomplish our mission through several inter-related activities:
» Member and Public Education
» Member Mobilization
» Voter Registration
» "Get out the Vote" efforts
» Legislative Advocacy in the Capitol and in Districts
» Activists' Training
